The British Nutrition Foundation’s (BNF) Healthy Eating Week is a dedicated week in the year which is aimed at encouraging organisations across the UK (including workplaces, universities, and schools) to focus on healthy eating and drinking, physical activities, and celebrate healthy living.
At Overton School everyone took part in a morning of activities where students were introduced to a range of colourful and interesting vegetables. A survey was also conducted which found that almost everyone in the school has their 5-a-day!
Creativity flowed with a competition where students created fruit and vegetable people using only vegetables, fruit and tooth picks. The competition was intense and in the end three winners were chosen.
Activities continued with students making juices out of a variety of fruits and vegetables. Overton juice was also created, where each participant chose one fruit to add in order to create an interesting and unique Overton blend. The day was topped off by students creating energy balls which are a simple to prepare and delicious snack, perfect as a healthy little energy boost.
BNF have set 5 health challenges; have breakfast, have 5-a-day, drink plenty, get active and sleep well. Why not see how many of these you can achieve as part of your daily routine?
