Welcome from the Headteacher
I am pleased to introduce you to Overton School, Ludlow, Shropshire. We are a small, nurturing and supportive community caring for young people with a range of special educational needs including autism, learning disabilities, speech and language needs and co-occurring conditions.
The school is set in beautiful surroundings offering a purposeful learning environment to support young people re-engage with their education and build plans for successful futures.
Life at Overton School is shaped by our commitment to enable our young people to realise their personal potential, communicate effectively, contribute to wider society, prepare for life beyond school and successfully transition into adulthood. Our young people will experience a bespoke and tailored education to meet the needs of all, supporting whole person development and personal success.

My 22 years of experience within education have seen me teach and lead in a range of schools both at home and internationally and through Primary and Secondary phases. I have lead independent International schools, Independent SEND schools and held leadership positions within Mainstream settings also. I have been fortunate enough to work for Outcomes First Group since 2018, firstly as deputy Headteacher at the Wenlock school in Dudley and since 2021 as the Headteacher for Overton School. Samantha Clarke – Deputy Headteacher- Quality of Education & Examinations Officer
Samantha has over thirteen years’ experience educating children and young people who have a range needs including SEMH, Learning Difficulties and Autism. She joined Overton School in September 2021 as LD Specialist Teacher and Examinations Officer before becoming Assistant Headteacher and Examinations Officer in April 2022 then Deputy Headteacher & Examinations Officer in October 2023. Samantha is motivated and passionate about ensuring all pupils attending Overton School reach their full potential by developing personalised curriculum pathway strands and ensuring high quality teaching and learning is delivered throughout the school creating a positive environment where all pupils thrive and experience a love of learning.
Richeard Lort – Assistant Headteacber, Safeguarding (DSL) & Pastoral Services
Richeard has over fourteen years’ experience educating children and young people. He joined Overton School in September 2019 as the Computing Teacher, before becoming Assistant Headteacher of Pastoral & Designated Safeguarding Lead in June 2025.
Richeard is a passionate Computing teacher who inspires students to develop digital skills, creativity, and problem-solving for the modern world. Alongside teaching, as his Assistant Head role he supports the wellbeing, personal development, and behaviour of all pupils. As the school’s Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), Richeard is dedicated to ensuring that every student feels safe, supported, and able to thrive both inside and outside the classroom.
