VE Day Celebrations

To mark the 80th Anniversary of Victory in Europe, at Overton School we attended an anniversary celebration service in our local town of Ludlow then back in school engaged positively in a whole school assembly to remember those who defended Britain in the war, we discussed rationing, shelters, the effect of war and took a moment to reflect. Then together in teams we listened to the war siren and built our own air raid shelters outside, we then made jam or marmalade sandwiches and had snack together listening to war time songs and playing traditional games such as hopscotch.
