As part of World Book Day, the theme at Overton School this year was Pirates of the Caribbean. The school was thrilled to welcome special visitors Jack Sparrow and Davy Jones, who brought the magic of pirate adventures to life for the students.
Jack Sparrow entertained everyone with exciting pirate stories, inspiring the children to become storytellers themselves. Students had the opportunity to use their imagination or read their favourite books while sitting on the magical story chair.
The adventure continued with an exciting treasure hunt both inside and outside the school. Students worked together to read clues and solve riddles that eventually led them to a treasure box filled with gold coins. The students also had fun doing face painting and participating in pirate-themed arts and crafts activities such as making pirate hats, eye patches and treasure maps.
Both staff and students joined in the fun by dressing up as their favourite characters. They also visited the local bookstore and used their World Book Day tokens to choose new books. The day ended with a celebration assembly where prizes were awarded for the Best Storyteller, Best Costume (student and staff), World Book Day Quiz Master and Best Treasure Hunter. It was a day full of laughter, creativity and imagination. It was wonderful to see the students shine and express themselves through the magical world of books and storytelling.
