For neurodiversity celebration week, Overton School spent time reflecting with pupils on their learning journeys, identifying why has Overton been different for them. Feedback included:
Pupil 1 (ks2) – Overton School trust me, I am in school full days and can go offsite to swimming and boxing with my friends. My old school, I was only allowed for 1 hour each day with no play time. I have fun here, feel safe, Holly and Tali help me.
Pupil 2 (ks2) – Teachers and staff are so nice here, they treat me nicely and listen to me. My class accept me for me and understand.
Pupil 3 (KS3) – Learning is fun here, I have the help I need from staff.
Pupil 4 (KS4) – I feel safe coming to school, staff listen to me, I have more choice and can go to climbing and the farm which help me. I have made good progress at Overton School, they understand when I struggle and still help me.
Pupil 5 (KS5) – Lessons are in smaller chunks which are easier for me to understand, more opportunities with trips and experiences, I told them I like Hair and Beauty, so now I am doing a qualification and staff are helping me find work experience in a salon. Staff are great at this school and always cheer us on.
Pupil 6(KS5) – I have learnt alot about myself at Overton School, I have completed qualifications, developed empathy and skills to help others. I have a timetable that is suited to me and my needs which has helped. I will really miss Overton School when I leave and the staff, they are friendly, helpful and really care about us.
We also celebrated everyone with the return of our much loved Overton’s got Talent, we were so impressed by the performances with incredible singing, dancing, football skills and so much more. Well done to everyone who took part.
